Chapter 10: A Cat’s Favor

The day was far quieter than the previous ones had been, and it gave Ray and Maja the opportunity to organize and stock the shelves. Ray was in a section of the store that he found the least interesting: biographies. He was putting away a copy of the Steve Jobs biography when he turned around to find Maja stocking shelves as well, but Ray saw someone coming to the store over her shoulder.

Maja’s gaze came up to his face and the direction of his gaze made her turn and they found Hedvig. The yule cat-woman was sauntering in through the entry way, and Ray couldn’t help but notice the way that she moved. Her hips gave subtle motions from side to side like her white tail that flicked in similar directions and motions. She came up to them and hugged Maja before giving her a quick peck on her lips.

“What brings you by my store, hon?” Maja asked.

“Him, actually.” Hedvig grinned towards Ray.

“What’d you have in mind?” Ray asked having a small expectation of what was to be asked.

“My store had a toy and clothing drive for the local good will,” she explained, “and we managed to get quite a lot this year. I’d like some help delivering it. If you’re available and would like to help that is.”

“Sounds good. I’d like to get to know you better. When do you need to do that?” Ray asked.

“After your work closes. I know Maja needs all the help she can get.”

“Oh yes,” Maja agreed. “Before Ray, I had been managing this store on my own. So, with him here, it has been a real breath of fresh air for me.”

Ray nodded but then asked Hedvig, “Do you have your own car? We can use mine, but I’ll need to walk home to get it.”

“Nah.” Hedvig shook her head. “My car will be okay.”

“Alright. I’ll see you after closing.”

“Thank you,” Hedvig said once again waving to Ray in that finger flexing way as opposed to waving one’s whole arm from side to side. And with that, she sauntered away showing how her hips swayed in the same motions as her tail.

“Don’t let her wear you out too much, Ray,” Maja warned.

“Why? Is there something I should know?”

“I’ll leave that as a surprise.” She winked.

Closing time was drawing nearer as was the favor for Hedvig.

Ray kept thinking about what Maja had told him about her. The idea of that something being a surprise. He started to wonder if the encounter was going to be like his time with Tuva as well as Maja. The thought of the three of them wanting him sexually. He couldn’t help but think one sentence:

Merry Christmas to me indeed.

He knew that most men would dream to have such a scenario but in all practicality, he started to wonder how he would be able to balance three relationships so that he was fair to all the ladies in the group. After all, he had been with Maja the longest and slept with her the most.
